Dr Chi (David) Cheng
Dr Chi (David) Cheng is a Senior Lecturer and ARC Future Fellow in the School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW Sydney, where he leads the Nanofluidics and Advanced Separations Laboratory and is a core member of the UNESCO Centre for Membrane Science and Technology. He is known for his pioneering work in 2D nanofluidics and the development of atomically thin nanoporous membranes for precision molecular separations in water, gas, and organic solvent systems. Dr. Cheng’s work has been recognized through the MSA Membrane Science Award, an ARC Future Fellowship, the Australian Endeavour Research Fellowship, and recognition as a DOE Geothermal Lithium Extraction Prize Semifinalist. He has delivered over 20 invited talks at international conferences and academic institutions and held a range of leadership and service roles, including Organizing Co-Chair of the Membrane Society of Australasia Annual Conference, Alumni Committee Chair of the MIT Postdoctoral Association, and MIT Communication Lab Fellow. Dr. Cheng’s research and teaching focus on transport phenomena, fluid mechanics, membrane science, and nanopore technology, with an emphasis on addressing critical challenges in resource and energy security. |
