Dr Erin Mathieu

Dr Erin Mathieu is an epidemiologist and Senior Lecturer at the Sydney School of Public Health, and Academic Director for Student Life in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. She is also a Visiting Fellow with the Global Diet and Physical Activity Group at the University of Cambridge. Erin’s research focuses on climate-related health impacts, sustainable healthcare, and policies that promote active and low-carbon communities. She contributed to the United Nations COP29 compendium as a co-author, and has worked with colleagues from Wiser Health Care and the HEAL network on the NSW Health Net Zero Program, which partnered with NSW Health to reduce the carbon footprint of hospitals. Her work has been recognised through the 2025 NSW Health Award for Environmental Sustainability and the University of Sydney Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence.
